I am currently living a life-long dream of residing in a van and traveling the US. Gertrude is a 1996 Chevy G10 van that I converted myself over the course of 2 months. She’s a bit rough around the edges since I took the complete DIY approach and had no idea what I was doing, but I learned a lot and couldn’t be happier with the outcome. I travel with my vizsla/pitbull dog and we’ve been on the road since April 2016.
I blame my parents (in the most endearing way) for my wanderlust, as I grew up overseas in Beijing, China and spent most of my childhood traveling the world. I have had the privilege of visiting Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Australia, London, Indonesia, Mexico, Canada, Guatemala, Peru and I plan on continuing to add to that list. Since I spent my younger years exploring the international playground, I did not travel much of the United States, which I’ve been making up for as an adult. While on the road, I work remotely for my income.
So far we have been to Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Missouri, Kansas, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Arizona, North Dakota, Montana, Washington, Oregon and Idaho. My blog will give you a bit of flavor into what it is like day-to-day with van life as well as some of the life lessons that I have been learning along the way. I think there is a misconception that van life is all glamorous, so I try to be as raw and genuine as possible. I welcome suggested blog topics if you have something that you want to hear about!
